Ezekiel Elliott Signs New Deal with Dallas Cowboys

Cowboys Retain Veteran Running Back

No Running Back Selected in 2024 NFL Draft

The Dallas Cowboys have agreed to a new contract with running back Ezekiel Elliott, ensuring the veteran's return to the team for the upcoming season. Despite trading away their starting running back in each of the past two seasons, the Cowboys opted not to select a running back in the 2024 NFL draft.

Elliott, who turns 29 this season, is entering his eighth year in the NFL. He has been a key player for the Cowboys since being drafted fourth overall in 2016, rushing for over 1,000 yards in each of his first five seasons. Elliott's production dipped slightly in 2022, but he remains one of the most talented and consistent running backs in the league.

By re-signing Elliott, the Cowboys have solidified their backfield and avoided a potential position of need in the draft. The team also added running back Rico Dowdle as a free agent, giving them depth behind Elliott. It remains to be seen how the Cowboys will divvy up the workload between Elliott and Dowdle, but Elliott is expected to remain the team's primary ball carrier.

Elliott's return provides stability and leadership to the Cowboys' offense. He is a key part of the team's identity and has been a popular figure among fans since his arrival in Dallas. With Elliott and quarterback Dak Prescott leading the way, the Cowboys hope to contend for a Super Bowl title in 2024.
