Original reports claimed the victim was Irish, but new information suggests they were actually Scottish

The Irish Mirror has reported that a tourist who was killed in an avalanche in the French Alps was originally reported to be Irish, but new information suggests that they were actually Scottish. The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Scott Napier, from Edinburgh.

Napier was a keen skier and snowboarder, and had been living in the French Alps for several years

He was reportedly caught in an avalanche while skiing off-piste in the Les Deux Alpes ski resort on Saturday, January 28. His body was found on Sunday, January 29.

The Foreign Office has confirmed Napier's death, and is providing support to his family

A spokesperson for the Foreign Office said: "We are aware of the death of a British national in the French Alps on January 28. We are providing support to the family at this difficult time."
