Jane Lynch won three Emmy Awards at the 2019 ceremony. She won for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her role as Sue Sylvester in the hit TV show Glee. She also won for Outstanding Writing for a Variety Special for her work on the special "AFI Life Achievement Award: A Tribute to Sidney Poitier." Finally, she won for Outstanding Directing for a Variety Special for her work on the special "The Kennedy Center Honors." This is the second time Lynch has won an Emmy for her role as Sue Sylvester, she previously won in 2010.

Lynch has been nominated for a total of 14 Emmy Awards, and has won 4. She has also been nominated for a Golden Globe Award, a Screen Actors Guild Award, and a BAFTA Award.

Lynch is a graduate of Northwestern University and the Goodman School of Drama. She began her career in the theater, and has appeared in a number of Broadway productions, including "Chicago" and "Annie." She has also appeared in a number of films, including "The 40-Year-Old Virgin" and "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby."

Lynch is married to Lara Embry, and they have one child. She is a supporter of the LGBTQ community, and has spoken out against homophobia and discrimination.
